Project: Universal Studios Tram Tour Upgrade
Owner: Universal Studios Hollywood
Client: Universal Creative
Design Architect: Houston-Tyner Associates, Los Angeles
Project Phases: Concept Design through Detailed Design
Project Background:
Universal Studios decided to refurbish the most famous tram experience in the world. Although the essence of the 40 year old tour would remain the same, new guest experiences and a Hollywood facelift and would be added.
Challenge:
How do you refurbish a classic attraction? Universal wanted to enhance several areas and then take the Tram Tour to new heights by adding a state of the art on-board audio-video system previously available only on new jet aircraft!
Solution:
It's Alive Co. provided an entire Project Management and Technical Team to tackle the concept and design management. It's Alive Co. interfaced with Universal's Creative Team, Park Operations, and Executive Staff to progress to a final concept. Mock-ups of key audio/visual issues were devised and executed and then IAC coordinated all new show elements and facility impacts with the architect. Specialty show vendors were surveyed for their feedback on critical issues. IAC even provided assistance to Universal through the bid and award process for the specialized theme elements.
